How I work
I am a counsellor who uses therapeutic play to work with children. Play is the language of children. They use creative materials and toys to express themselves and tell their story. My approach is a child-centred approach - that is I let the child lead the session and take the process at their pace. I support your child to work through their worries and talk through their emotions and experiences. I can help children and adolescents to view situations differently, build resilience, find ways of coping, gain self-acceptance and be better able to solve problems.
I have experience working with children and adolescents on the following issues:
Anxiety, self-harm, depression, separation, loss, illness, bereavement, bullying, stress and domestic violence, parental substance misuse, family issues, the transition from primary to secondary school, self-esteem and anger.
I work with children and teenagers from my therapy room in Colliers Wood or in schools. I am a school counsellor and I have experience managing my own School Counselling project in a primary school in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
I am a School Counsellor and Assessor for the ETHOS Research Study working alongside Roehampton University, BACP, Metanoia Institute and other organisations researching the "Effectiveness and Cost Effectiveness of Humanistic Counselling in Schools".
I also have experience working in primary and secondary schools in Wandsworth (Tooting Broadway, Tooting Bec and Balham) and Westminster, Central London with a leading children's charity. I am happy to see your child at their school if the school permits me to do so and there is an adequate room available.
